Day 1: A Sink-ing Feeling

Cathy and I awoke early hoping to sneak in an episode of Doctor Who whilst our child still slept. Instead we found a nasty surprise in our basement- water flowing down from our pipes and onto the floor.  We attempted to contact some plumbers, but my best man Ben told us to cancel the plumber. He would deal with it.

A half an hour later had taken a hacksaw to my faucet and I felt very much like I had made a mistake trusting him with this task. My faucet now lay in the sink like some kind of dead robot-squid. But Ben assured me that he knew what he was doing.

We picked up a new faucet at Lowe's and then went to Walmart for some beer and hamburger buns. I noticed that the Pizza aisle was completely empty of all the Jack’s, Tombstone, and Portesi. There was still some of the more expensive gourmet-type pizzas, but the cheap stuff had been pillaged.

After the sink disaster was averted, Cathy and I took Roland for a walk with my parents. We even picked up Yoko (a Bernese mountain dog) from my brother’s house. This was followed up by a round of Crème Brule courtesy of my mother.

All in all, no feelings of isolation have really set in. We are avoiding large gatherings and restaurants, but still venturing out to stores if we need to. I think Roland will start to miss school soon. It is going to be difficult to keep him entertained when he is used to one-on-one attention from a variety of teachers, therapists, and caregivers.

Until tomorrow everyone.
