DAY 21: Coffee & Caches

The hardest thing about social distancing is distancing yourself from social situations. The entire concept of staying away from other humans is not something humans are very good at. So even though we try, sometimes we cheat.

Cathy and I ran out this morning to my friend Ben's house to bring him some coffee. Apparently his French press was dirty and... he didn't want to clean it. Or maybe he just wanted some interaction that wasn't via the internet. Either way, Cathy and I dutifully arrived with a mason jar full of hot Cuban coffee.

Later, during a walk with my family, my brother took us Geocaching. We tracked down two caches, but many people had tracked down those same caches in the last couple days so... social distancing fail again.

My father and mother had never heard of Geocaching, so they wanted to know who went around and planted the caches. If you are not familiar with the activity, people hide caches all around the world and then other people use GPS devices to track down the caches. When a cache is found you can take a souvenir from the the cache as long as you leave one behind. There is also a logbook where you can record your name.

I have actually tracked down caches in at least four countries including China, Thailand, and Taiwan.

For dinner I let Cathy choose between pizza and pasta. She chose pizza because we had pasta yesterday- and we had pizza the day before that and pasta the day before that. This epidemic has really limited our food options. We will need to find a solution for this.
